How We Share Your Personal Information

We do not share your personal information with third parties without your consent, except in the following circumstances or as described in this Privacy Policy:

Educational institutions.  We share your profile information (including the contact details, demographic information, educational information, and academic information in your profile) with colleges and universities (both nonprofit and for-profit), scholarship providers, and other nonprofit organizations with higher educational missions.  These organizations use your profile information to determine whether they may want to recruit you and to contact you to promote their schools or offer their services.  You may change your preferences to opt out of sharing your profile information with any of these organizations that you haven’t saved to your saved schools list.  Note that once you’ve saved a school or other organization to your saved schools list, it will receive an alert with your profile information and continue to have access to your profile, even if you later unsave that school/organization.

However, we do not control how these organizations handle your personal information, which is governed by their own privacy policies.  If you have questions about the educational institutions’ privacy practices, we encourage you to contact them.

Affiliates.  We may share your personal information with our parent companies, subsidiaries and affiliates for use consistent with their other applicable privacy policies.  You can learn more about Strada and our affiliates here.

Your Choices

Opt out of sharing your profile.  You may change your preferences to opt out of sharing your profile information with any colleges or other educational organizations that use The College Fair that you haven’t saved to your saved schools list.  Note that once you’ve saved a school or other organization to your saved schools list, it will receive an alert with your profile information and continue to have access to your profile information, even if you later unsave that school/organization.

Opt out of marketing.  You may opt out of marketing-related emails from us by following the unsubscribe instructions in the email or by adjusting the settings in your account preferences page on the Services.  Note that opting out of emails from us will not opt you out of receiving emails from the schools or other organizations who have received your profile information.  You will need to separately opt out of receiving those organizations’ emails by following their instructions.  After you opt out of our emails you may continue to receive Services-related and other non-marketing emails from us.  Opting out of emails or other communications related to sweepstakes or contests may terminate your eligibility to participate in those sweepstakes or contests.  Be sure to check the relevant sweepstakes or contest rules before you opt out.

Opt out of text messages.  If you ask us to communicate with you via text message, such as to text you a link to where you can download the College Fair app, you can always opt out by replying “STOP” to one of the messages received.

Targeted advertising.  Some of our business partners that collect information about your activities on the Services may be members of organizations or programs that provide you with choices regarding the use of your browsing behavior for purposes of targeted advertising.  For example, you may opt out of receiving targeted advertising on websites through members of the Network Advertising Initiative by clicking here or the Digital Advertising Alliance by clicking here.  We may work with partners that do not participate in these opt out services.

Changes to your personal information.  You may be able to review the information you provided to us and make any desired changes to such information, or to your account settings, by editing or deleting the information in your profile.  However, you may not be able to save schools or use other features if you do not provide profile information marked as required.

Closing your account. If you wish to close your account with the Services, please send your request via email to support@thecollegefair.zendesk.com, and, if applicable, we will remove your personal information and profile from the active databases for the Services you request.  Even after deletion, your personal information may remain in our backups or archive records, and we may retain certain information relevant to the compliance, fraud prevention and safety purposes described above.  All retained personal information will continue to be subject to this Privacy Policy.
